Romance is in the air with Valentine’s Day but what if you didn’t notice until right now? Here are some last minute Valentine’s Day quick fixes that’ll come in handy when you need a gift in a hurry.
- Make Something
If you have a little more than few hours before your honey gets to see their gift, use it creatively. Making a gift could mean cooking them dinner, or making them a book of love coupons, redeemable for various romantic treats. Sites like RomanticPrintables have coupons for sale but making them on your own is likely to impress more.
- Decadent Confectionery
Chocolates are a Valentine’s Day staple and both guys and girls love it. Pick up a box of gourmet chocolates if you think your sweetheart will appreciate it. Or, if you’d rather give the chocolates a miss, get some sinful chocolate cake or brownies that you can both share instead.
- The Valentine’s Day Aisle
Thanks to card and gift companies, there’s no way you can’t find a gift for your sweetie. For a last minute gift, a Valentine’s Day themed gift is a quick savior. You can get anything from chocolates to jewelry to stuffed toys to underwear that’s been specially designed for this day. Just step into a mall and y’all will know what I’m saying.
- Gift Certificate
Absolutely no time to go anywhere? Buy them an online gift certificate. Target, iTunes, Amazon and many other sites have online gift cards that you can give your Valentine. Add a thoughtful and meaningful note so they don’t think it’s an entirely impersonal gift!
- The Grand Cover Up
What if you’re caught off-guard and are given a Valentine’s Day gift and have got none to give in return? Well, cover up to the best of your abilities! - If you’ve got some time to buy a gift, tell them their gift is a surprise you want to give them over dinner. Now quick, rush out and buy a (great!) gift to give them at dinner.
- If there’s no escape and you don’t want to tell them the truth, say you ordered something online but it got delayed in the mail. (Make sure you find a gift ASAP and it better be worth the wait!)
- Apologize if you think there’s no way to make up for this but to tell them you forgot/don’t believe in Valentine’s Day/never exchange gifts etc.
If you’re seeing someone, its likely Valentine’s Day will be a big deal. I think you should talk about it so you don’t have to get stuck in a last-minute-gift situation. Find out how important it is to them, communicate what you think about it etc. If you’ve been with your partner for a while however, your last minute gifts can backfire because trust me, they will expect a little more thoughtfulness!
