Dating Resolutions for 2009

So you’re probably and hopefully thinking about resolutions to make for 2009. So while you’re at it, did you think about some that could change your dating life as well? These are the five dating resolutions I’m making for 2009.

• I Will Dump the Past

Leave the past where it belongs – in the past. We’ve all had them losers, liars, cheaters, creeps and so on. Let’s move on from that. Promise yourself not to bring in the baggage from the past and project it onto our future relationships. Look for someone better and not just expect everyone to be a jerk!

• I Will Start Looking Again

Okay, might sound obvious enough but seriously, you gotta do it. You’re not going to find a date without doing anything. So for example, if you’re a member of this site – you gotta actively look for people to date rather than just hang around waiting for something to happen. Get yourself out there – both online and offline.

• I Will Not Be Desperate

While you’re making things happen, try not to go overboard. So you’ve been single and you’re looking for someone to love. But try not to send out that desperate vibe because that’s when you go from being a chooser to a beggar. And that, is so not attractive!

• I Will Not Expect “The One”

Don’t put yourself under constant pressure to find “the one”. Not everyone you date is soul mate material. Expecting them to be is just asking for heartbreak. Sooner or later you will find that perfect someone, just let it take its time. In the meanwhile, enjoy the search.

• I Will Be More Open Minded

Don’t get sucked into making rules or choosing only certain “types” of people to date. You could end up dating the same people over and over again. You know, same person, different bodies, different names. Instead, be open-minded, take a dating risk and date someone even if they might not qualify as your “type” immediately. Opposites have been known to attract remember?

I know I know, it’s not easy to always stick to resolutions but you’ve got me for company too. Let’s give it a shot! What say?
