How to Grab Attention With Your Online Dating Profile Header

So when your profile shows up on a search, the first thing others will see is your photo and your profile header. To get folks to read your profile, you’ve got to hook them in with an awesome profile header….So give that header some thought!

• Analyze Others

Before you write your profile header, the first thing you need to do is have a look at what other folks are doing. Analyzing other profile headers will give you an idea of what’s cool and what’s lame and what’s way too cliché to even think about!

• Use it as a Filter

Your profile header should work as a filter. Use it to tell others exactly what you’re looking for. “Looking for love” – Really; as opposed to? Come on; that’s just a drag! Everyone else is also on the site looking for love so what’s so special ‘bout you? But say “21 yr old looking for 21-35 yr old in LA”, and you’ve said so much about your search for “love” in just a few words!

• Dump the Cliché

Use a header that is fresh and not completely overused. So no, “Looking for love” is no good; and neither are “Searching for the one” or “I’m the one you’re looking for”. Try something that ain’t so cliché. I like this one - "Ok, I'm here. Now what's your other two wishes?"

• Fun & Philosophical

I’ve noticed that a witty line or a philosophical quote really work as headers. This one – “You must be over 5’10” to read this profile” is funny, yet it’s pretty obvious to others that they don’t stand a chance if they don’t meet the height requirement! Or if philosophy is more your style, use a favorite quote like “To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world” and people know you’re a romantic.

• Change it Often

If you’re header bombed and you’re still attracting all the wrong ones, just try something new. It’s fun to see what gets people’s attention. Changing your header every few weeks is actually a pretty great idea also because every time you change it, you could attract someone new!

So it’s one line but come up with something really fresh and you’re probably gonna attract the right someone way sooner than others on the site!
