Here’s something for the fashion-conscious black single who wants to stay up-to-date with everything that’s happening in the world of fashion. It might be a little women-centric, so guys I apologize!

Fashion colors change with every season and the fashion experts have predicted the colors that are going to be hot in Spring/Summer 2009. Spring’s the time for everything that’s fresh and new so there are definitely no dark and boring bits here. It’s all about the vibrancy and the excitement of a new year and a new season and the colors represent exactly this.

Pantone is the global color authority so when they tell you the Top 10 colors for this season, you just shut up and listen! So exactly what are they saying? In no particular order, here are the top colors for this season.

  1. Super Lemon
Yellow has been the fashion favorite for a while now and the new tangy shade of Super Lemon adds brightness and fun to the fashionista’s wardrobe.
  2. Fuchsia Red
Pink isn’t going anywhere in a hurry and this season it’s a mix of fuchsia and red, making it a slightly cooler red. It’s the most elegant and seductive color in the palette and an especially great choice for make up.
  3. Salmon Rose
Salmon Rose again is a mix of red, orange and pink resulting in a pale, subtle orangish look. It’s bright yet soothing and definitely summery.
  4. Lavender
Purple was ‘the’ color in Autumn/Winter ’08 collections and the trend continues, but with a lighter tone. Lavender is the new purple – summery yet mystical.
  5. Vibrant Green
What’s Spring without a touch of green? Vibrant Green is truly vibrant and is the revitalizing shade of the palette.
  6. Palace Blue
Blue again was a favorite last season and continues its reign through this season too. Palace Blue is slightly navy-like but leans towards the brighter side, keeping the freshness of Spring alive.
  7. Lucite Green
The subtle shade of green is clear and subtly rejuvenating with a touch of happy shimmer.
  8. Slate Gray
It’s the perfect neutral essential for every wardrobe. It’s not a heavy gray, therefore keeping Spring/Summer alive, and it’s perfect for pairing with the rest of the colors.
  9. Rose Dust
It’s what you get when you mix neutral beige with a rose undertone. For that stable color in your wardrobe, step away from plain old boring beige and add a touch of Spring with Rose Dust instead.
  10. Dark Citron
Another green, this time citrus-inspired. It’s not lime-y as you’d expect but a lot calmer and very sophisticated.

They are pretty basic colors and most of them I think will suit the black complexion pretty well. There’s a fantastic combination of bright and cool colors on this list, making it a pretty well balanced color choice for the new season’s wardrobe. I can’t wait to go shopping now!
